Velvet Phoebè: Fashion with a Soul

Join the Museo Italo Americano for a special edition of our Taste of Italy series, celebrating the art, design, and heart behind contemporary Italian fashion. This event spotlights Velvet Phoebè, the independent Emilia-Romagna fashion brand founded by Angela Pavese and Cinzia Paolini. Since 2019, they have been crafting sustainable, artisanal collections entirely made in Italy, where fashion becomes a form of cultural expression and emotional storytelling.
The event is organized by Botlhale Tshoagong and will feature a live presentations from Thalia Makhlouf, architectural designer and founder of MONUMENTHAL, and Una Ryan, Velvet Phoebè’s longtime supporter, exploring the intersection of fashion, community, and creativity.
Adding a musical dimension, Cheryl Cain, soprano with the San Francisco Opera, will perform iconic Italian pieces, accompanied by a string quartet (Michael Long, violin – Michelle Maruyama, violin – Marcel Gemperle, viola – Robert Howard, cello)
