Friuli Venezia Giulia, a Potpourri of History, Culture Landscapes and Palatable Treasures
November 24 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Join us at the Museo for an inspiring presentation on Friuli Venezia Giulia by Daniele Cocco. This enriching lecture is part of our Regional Sunday series—don’t miss it!
Despite being one of the smallest and less populated regions of Italy, Friuli Venezia Giulia has an incredible diversity of landscapes, architectural design, food, culture and, yes, languages. This diversity is a gift of the rich and very distinct history that shaped the various parts of this land. We will use, and learn about, the history to highlight the richness of suggestive small towns and castles, the cultural and linguistic differences and, sure enough, the enogastronomic variety of plates and wines that you can find only in this region. And, if you stick around for the entire presentation, you may be able, not only to learn about the food and wines of this region, but, actually, appreciate it.
Daniele Cocco
Daniele is a scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Born in the Venezia Giulia and raised mostly in Friuli went through different jobs (horse trainer assistant, theater actor, Radio DJ) before deciding he needs to grow up and make some money. So, he decided to study physics and graduate from the University of Trieste and worked in the Research Area of Trieste for 18 years before being hired by Stanford University and thus moving to the United states in 2011.
This lecture is organized in conjunction with our current exhibition Into the Light, featuring photography by Elio and Stefano Ciol, a father and son duo hailing from Friuli.
