Alfredo P. D’Annunzio was born in “Detroit” and grew up in Rome, Italy. He attended the Scuola di Disegno in Atina, Italy and then studied at the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Rome where he mastered his love of painting. He returned to America and joined the Army during World War II. He served under General George Patton and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded at Omaha Beach during the Normandy Invasion.D’Annunzio is known as an accomplished oil painter. He belonged to the Palo Alto Art Club and was a member of the Society of Western Artists and the Castro Valley Arts Foundation. He loved to teach others his craft and was a teacher for the Castro Valley Unified School District as well as a private art instructor from his home studio until he was 95 years old. His works have been exhibited throughout the United States, as well as in London and Japan.
