Cuneo, Rinaldo – California Hills with White Boat

This oil painting displays a palette of blue, green, red, orange, brown, yellow, black, and white. The composition features large, rolling hills in warm earth tones of yellow, green, red, and brown that stretch into the sky, with trees scattered across the tops of the hills. The hills lead down toward a dark brown wooden bridge, accented with black between its supporting pillars, which extends from the left side just beyond the painting’s midpoint. Below the bridge, a body of water covers the entire lower half of the scene. On the right, three boats are docked; on the left, a small wooden dock is visible. The water reflects the colors of the surrounding elements with soft white, green, and red hues. The focal point is a white fishing boat with a red-lined hull, seen in profile and facing right, with two lines at the front tip indicating it is docked. Above, a blue sky filled with thick white clouds echoes the shapes of the rolling hills below. The artist's signature is at the bottom left corner in red.
