Italian
b. 1935 BolognaValerio Adami was born in Bologna, and was educated at the Accademia di Brera in Milan where he studied as a draftsman until his move to Paris in 1955. His early works are characterized by an expressionistic style influenced by Pop Art. Adami later developed a style reminiscent of French cloisonnism, a post-Impressionistic method that uses bold forms with dark countours. After the 1970s, Adami began to incoporate poltics, literature and mythology in his paintings, which he continues to use today.
