Campania Travelogue

April 26 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Panoramic view of Naples, Italy, in the evening. Shows an arial view of the coastline, the streets lit by streetlights and buildings on the hill in the background.

Join Douglas Kenning for another Regional Sundays event, featuring his personal travelogue of Campania.

In the Bay of bella Napoli, we find the oldest ancient Greek colony, a Sibyl’s cave, islands of the Sirens, Vesuvius and the cities she destroyed, stunning Caserta, the Amalfi Coast, Capri, the home of pizza and grand opera, and the most vibrant street life in Italy. Beyond lay what the Romans called Campania felix: “happy” or “lucky” Campania, because of her fertile volcanic soil. “Here the beautie of all the World is gathered as it were into a bundle.” Campania today may not everywhere be as felix as once it was, but Campanians know how to make music out of the ageless human struggle. In the Cilento mountains we find a Blue Zone: come here to live longer and fuller.

A light tasting of regional cuisine and wine will be offered!
