From the 16th Century to Fabrizio De André: a Journey Through Genoese Music
October 5 @ 4:00 pm
A subtle yet well-defined thread connects Genoese musical and vocal production from the 16th century to the present day. The sun on the stones of the dry-stone walls in the hinterland, the blue of the sea crashing against steep slopes dotted with greenery and rock, the secret splendors of the noble palaces in the historic center hidden behind austere façades amidst the maze of narrow streets and small squares have all contributed to the indelible definition of a distinctly Genoese “style.”
The Liceo Pertini Vocal Ensemble, composed of young students and former students from the Sandro Pertini Musical High School, directed by Luca Franco Ferrari, will present a program centered on a musical journey featuring pieces and composers either originating from or closely linked to “La Superba,” starting with the late Renaissance work of Simone Molinaro, passing through the rich popular and dialect traditions, and culminating with the refined singer-songwriter tradition of Umberto Bindi and Fabrizio De André.
